12th Annual New Year’s Sale – Chelsea Girls’ Picks
It’s so funny how whenever we have our big sales (summer & New Year’s), even though we’ve been selling the wares for the previous several months, we shopgirls suddenly feel compelled to grab up some deals ourselves. Call it catching the sale bug. Call it fear of loss. Either way, we invariably join in the fun and grab some end-of-season delights to give the ole wardrobe a little boost until the really exciting new season’s merch starts arriving en force.
By virtue of the fact that we have been slinging the hash, we know the good stuff. Or at least we have our opinions about what the best items are to take advantage of picking up on sale. That in mind, I put it to the team to weigh in on what they each deem to be the most exciting pieces currently on clearance at our 12th (!) Annual New Year’s Sale. Here’s what they came back with.
Heather Genetic Shya Cig cords in Napa “I love them because it’s a great way to be on-trend (with a pop of color solids on the bottom) while still being in my comfort zone and being comfortable IN them. They are flattering on nearly everyone and look great with a brown or black tall boot. Having them on sale is the perfect way to get in on the trend without breaking the bank. I also love them because it’s a great way to convince myself that I need another pair of pants because they will be like nothing else in my closet!” Were $187, now $140. We also love these and these, and these were the best-sellers of the season – only a size 24 was left to go on sale, or try these which are brand new and blowing out (but sadly, not on sale).
Lesley LuLu Designs Blossom Necklace “I’m not the type to wear a necklace on leather, but the gold piece that sits on the end of this necklace is pretty incredible and shouldn’t be overlooked just because of its chain. For starters, simply the weight of the 14 karat pendant lets you know that you have a fabulous piece of jewelry. The design is simple yet elegant and everyday all in one. If I were to get this necklace (which trust me I would if I could!) I would use the pendant and add it to another chain I have or put it along with other charms on a charm necklace. At current gold prices, this necklace is a STEAL!” Was $852, now $340.
Michelle Manon Sweater by Line “Amidst all the great cashmere pieces we’ve had in the store this season, I am really loving the cotton Manon Sweater from Line – I’ve always had a love affair with the comfy cozy feel of cotton! Being 9 months pregnant, all I care about is comfort and function which is why this sweater gets so much play in my wardrobe rotation, but I love the fact that a year from now this will still be the piece I’ll reach for over all my other over-sized sweaters.” Was $208, now $156, only (1) XS left – only size to go on sale!
Melanie Susana Monaco Rouched Scoop Top in Caviar “I love this top because it is flattering all over. It has a beautiful neckline and the color is great to dress up, it’s just a fun and sexy winter top.” Was $138, now $69.
And what is my insider sale tip you ask? If I were you I’d grab this stunner of a gown by Tibi in my favorite color of the coming season (bright shrimp red). I know, I know, you wonder where in the world you’ll ever wear it. Top it with a jean jacket or faux fur shrug and a ponytail to make it more edgy, or bank it for that wedding next summer where you’re going to see your ex. With sunkissed skin and peruvian opal jewelry for added pop, you will be the belle of the ball. Was $550, now $414.
Happy New Year! We’ll be taking the day off on Sunday, but will be back open on Monday from 10-6. Come in and check out the sale, or shop the site 24/7. Be sure to check back often, we’ll continue to take new markdowns on remaining inventory, and the sale runs through January 15th.

Jessica’s Last-Minute Picks
I hate to admit this to you, but I am a bit of a procrastinator. Every year I say I will start early and every year I am running around like a crazy person and staying up way past my bedtime to try and get it all done. Being in retail I revel in helping you pick out your gifts and wrapping them up beautifully and sending you on your way, but outside of the walls of Chelsea (where, unfortunately I can’t buy for the men and children in my life) I am that last-minute gift buyer checking off the final items on the list just a day or two before the big holidays.
Salespeople are key to people like me. They know what’s hot, what’s not, what’s left, and where to find it in the store. With this in mind, I wanted to share with you my absolute favorite gift items at Chelsea to give you some last-minute ideas if you are, like me, still looking for a few more gifts for those special ladies in your life!
Perfect Veil perfume Hands down my all-time favorite perfume we’ve ever carried. Clean, fresh, innocent yet sexy at the same time. It’s my if-I-were-headed-to-a-desserted-island-and-could-only-pack-one-scent scent! Available in eau de parfum (1.7 oz., $75) or pure oil roller ($40).
Brooke Gregson zodiac necklaces We talk about these a lot but they are just so special. We are sold out of Pisces, Aries, Sagittarius, and Virgo (we will have them back in January), but if your lady is any of the other 8 signs, you are not off the hook! Also consider an infinity circle ring or Orbit necklace, which is a stunning showcase of colored diamonds on a weighty 14k gold pendant.
Feel the Piece Boyfriend Sweaters Again, something we have discussed a lot here, but still one of my favorite pieces of the season. Currently back in stock in Raisin and Navy, I have yet to meet a client who didn’t love the soft and cozy fabrication, or look fabulous in one. $130.
Kobo candles At $38, this clean-burning soy candle made in Saratoga Springs, NY, is the perfect hostess or Secret Santa gift. The packaging is gorgeous, it comes with an adorable set of matches, and the scents are scrumptious.
Hanky Panky thongs Stretch lace, one size, available in low or original rise, every girl wants a few pairs of these in her stocking! $18.
Melissa Joy Manning hoop earrings We just got these back in stock and I am so happy to be carrying them again. I love Melissa’s work. Known for hammering part of the hoop flat, and leaving the rest of the wire untouched, the way they catch the light is something to behold. Available in sterling and 14k yellow gold in 4 shapes: circle, oval, triangle and pear. Starting at $68.
Happy Last-Minute Shopping! Take a deep breath.
Fragrance Musings
Scent is often a reflection of who we are, how we feel, or what we want to be. With so many choices on the market, finding a scent you love can be overwhelming. Let’s make it easier for you this season, shall we? Whether you are treating yourself or gifting others, here is a guide to some winter favorites available at Chelsea – Perfect Perfumes by Sarah Horowitz Perfect Veil, Tocca Stella, and Kai.
Perfect Veil is the ultimate “Your Skin but Better” scent. It melts into the skin as it opens with bergamot and lemon, and then drifts into a soft vanilla and musk base. This scent is both a crisp white shirt and your favorite t-shirt, ideal for work and weekend. Perfect Veil stands comfortably on its own, while doing double-duty as a base for layering other perfumes or fragrance oils to create your own unique signature scent. It is available in an Eau de Parfum and a Pure Oil Roller. The Pure Oil Roller is an essential for travel, gym bag, or handbag, making it a practical and thoughtful gift and an easy addition to any fragrance wardrobe.
Tocca Stella is the come-hither scent. Stella opens with a bright blood orange top note, moves seamlessly to a light citrus middle note, and settles into a sexy sandalwood base. This is your softest cashmere sweater or your slip of a cocktail dress. A bestseller for the Tocca line, the etched glass Eau de Parfum bottle adds a chic statement to whichever room it graces in your home. Stella is also available in a Solid Perfume, which is the perfect size to slide into your clutch and take you from daytime to celebratory evenings.
Kai is the lush tropical island scent. Kai is a celebrity favorite, beautifully capturing the greenness of fresh-cut gardenia and the sensuality of tropical white flowers in the sun. This is your breezy maxi dress on the beach. Kai is available in an Eau de Parfum, a Pure Perfume Oil (roll-on), and in body products. One of the shining stars is the Kai Body Butter, deliciously rich and fragrant, making it a perfect antidote for the cold weather outside and a decadent treatment for skin that craves moisture. Top it off with the Eau de Parfum or the Pure Perfume Oil, and you are on an instant vacation.
Enjoy exploring what Chelsea has to offer in the world of scent and finding something beautiful for yourself or for the lucky person you are gifting. Best Wishes for a beautifully scented Holiday Season! Erika

Our Annual “Manly Man’s” Holiday Shopping Night is this Thursday December 8th from 5-8pm
It’s that time of year again. We start seeing them come in, crumpled scraps of paper in hand, bewildered looks on their faces, a sense of unease palpable in the air around them. They are…the men! They are looking for gifts for you lovely ladies – their girlfriends, their wives, their sisters, their friends. And, poor guys, they are stressed out.
Chelsea to the rescue (for them and for you). For the fourth year in a row we are hosting our Manly Man’s Holiday Shopping Night this Thursday from 5-8pm. We offer up the shop to just the guys and give them personal fit & style advice, custom gift wrap, and a low-key, no-stress environment to shop in. We’ll be streaming Warren Miller, and serving up their favorite cold ales.
Be sure to fill out a wish list or shoot us an email this week at info@chelseabella.com if you want us to invite a certain someone or drop a particular hint!

Age Appropriate
Working as a style consultant for the last two years, I am sometimes surprised by challenges to my firmly held opinions. For example, I’ve changed my mind on Diane Von Furstenberg’s designs by witnessing the amazing things her dresses have done for my clients. Additionally, I’ve seen cardigan sweaters from catalogue behemoth Boden (typically a place I reject on principle) look fabulous in person. However, there are a few key tenets that only get reinforced with experience, and high on that list is age appropriate dressing for women over 60. I’ve spoken on this topic before and get requests from clients and friends with relatives in this particular demographic, but after an experience with a lovely 70-year old during my weekly Chelsea shift, I feel it’s important to re-state my position, as I’m more confident of it than ever.
IMPECCABLE BASICS- The older you get, the more your wardrobe must contain the best basics. A v-neck white t-shirt, a crisp buttondown, dark and tailored denim, a beautiful blazer, and classic shoes all comprise the canvas your outfit builds upon. And while it may appear simple, on someone over 60 it translates to a sophisticated and modern look. My Chelsea client had many fabulous coats (some belonging to her mother) that needed this modern palette to avoid looking costume-y. At this age, any bold, stylized pieces should be limited to one per outfit and always over your backdrop of basics.
FINISHING TOUCHES- By the time many women hit 60, you’ve amassed quite a collection of jewelry (real and costume), vintage fashion and accessories along with other statement pieces. Now is definitely the time to wear them. At this age, it’s not only appropriate to wear big baubles, it’s almost expected. Broaches should adorn clothing, sparkly studs should decorate ears, fine silk scarves should drape from the neck or shoulders, and beautiful rings should be out of the safe and in your closet, at the ready. However, remember that the key is always balance and moderation, so always veer on the side of less.
OTHER PIECES- Some additional staples to consider when building or rethinking your wardrobe: ballet flats, large pearl studs (real or costume) and simple, small gold hoops, black cigarette trousers, a trench, and a great tote.
